It’s not only in how Olympias is portrayed, but in how Alexander’s sisters are overlooked. Misogyny is THICK in a lot of Alexander fiction, perhaps unconsciously imbibed from the primary sources. This is why I use Myrtalē instead of Olympias, to detach her from all that baggage, much as I use Alexandros to detach him from “Alexander the Great” baggage. This doesn’t mean she was nice, but she absolutely must be viewed in the full context of a polygamous court, her obvious intelligence, her Epirote ancestry, and the need simply to survive. I stand with Beth’s picture: her reputation got a hatchet-job. With that said, let’s jump back into the interview.Īlexander’s mother, Olympias, is represented very negatively by the Alexander historians what is your assessment of her character, and how does it inform the way you look at her in Dancing with the Lion ? You can find Dancing With The Lion: Becoming on Amazon in the U.K. Part Two, Rise, will be published this October. The first part Becoming just just been published. Jeanne has written Dancing With The Lion, a two part novel about the early years of Alexander, or, how he became the man we know as ‘the Great’. Don't get greedy either, just take the easy hits and you should be fine.ĭid it exactly like this, and worked perfect (not always, but made the fight quite easy). On the fiftieth anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing, an adventure that Alexander would surely have approved of, I continue my conversation with Jeanne Reames. Much easier when you can see what the furies are doing at all times, so frustrating to fall on to one of their projectiles.Įasy fight from here on out, just stay on those two right platforms. It wasn't easy by any means, but i had a lot more luck doing that than i did trying to use the whole arena. I would avoid his 60+ damage attack, and also get me away from him for a second or two so i could kill a couple of his furies and regain some health. Because the Furies heal when you kill them, and the spikes only do 20~ damage, i would swing away at him and whenever i got boxed in purposely jump into spikes. I would swing at him on a platform, jumping between the top and bottom platform in a circular motion when possible. I jumped straight over to his side and fought him there. I just managed to beat him, and in the end my strategy was a bit of a weird one but successful. I'm not sure if that's because i'm playing on PS3 or what. I found that whenever he 'paused' on the other side he would just come back over to my side with an absolute ton of furies with him. Don't get greedy either, just take the easy hits and you should be fine. If you get to the top of the screen, pop your teleport and replace it.Įasy fight from here on out, just stay on those two right platforms. If done right, you should get the boss and zero or 1-2 furies( more can come, but we want 0-2 if you can manage go ahead), the boss will attack in a circle. We want the pink "incoming boss attack bubble" to show up. Kill any incoming furies by moving closer to the right side of the screen. Kill the remaining furies on the bottom right platofrmmand redropmyour shadow.Īfter 45 seconds or so, inch left and up.SLOWLy. When he comes in, if he drops in the easy hit spot to do his pink attack, hit him 4 or so times and drop down and book it to the bottom right platform.DROP YOUR SHADOW!įrom the bottom right platform, wait for him to come at you, and if you can hit him once or twice, and book it to the top left platform. So he will just loop around the left sides platforms allowing you to hit him quite easily. This glitch only worked a few times for me, but Alexander should move over to the left, and no skulls will follow him period. If he doesn't move back after at least 30 seconds, jump close to the middle spikes to attract him to the left. If this works properly, you won't see any skulls on the left and there will be a lengthy delay before Alexander even starts to move back to the left. Draw Alexander as close as you can to the far right wall of the right side, then quickly dash back over to the left. Dash over to the right side, kill as many skulls as you can just to clear some room and get some health if needed. Try to position him where you can attack him while he's shooting (this make take multiple retries until the AI cooperates).ģ. Jump to the top platform and wait for Alexander to advance towards you while getting in some hits in, and jump downĢ. But the strategy that worked for me was a tad bit simpler.ġ. A lot of strategies involve standing on the spikes or farming the small skulls. The psuedo-randomness to me, was what made him the most difficult. Seeing as how many consider Alexander's second form as Alexander IV to be the hardest boss (and rightfully so in my opinion).
